Poksy wanted to have a party, lots of fun with his friends and family. When he asked his mom, she told him that his birthday was not too far away and then he could enjoy his party with them. Poksy asked his mom to check the months with him as to how long it would be before his birthday party. She did, and Poksy found himself very disappointed that he had to wait a few months for a party. Poksy's big question was: Why should I have to wait so long for a party? Why can't I just have a party in order to have fun with my friends? Why do I have to wait for a birthday in order to have fun? He wanted to have fun party now, not months away. His mother understood how he felt and decided to have a party for Poksy without a birthday.
Annette feels privileged to have been able to stay home, work part time and raise her children. She learned a great deal from her children and siblings. But did not realize that she had a whole lot more to learn in a different environment.
Following her arrival in the United States, Annette found herself surrounded by kids. She felt privileged to work with many families. Annette learned early that children have one thing in common: The need for love and understanding. To be treated with kindness and patience. It does not matter what your culture is, who you are, or what you look like. Your genuine touch, love, warm smile and care will keep them coming to you and even caring for you in return.
The parents of these children allowed Annette to give their children pet names. Names such as, the BOZZ, CHICKEN HIDER, SOSO, 10 cents, MEME and DEBONZO, and the list goes on. Annette cared for many of them when they were babies, they are now young adults and doing well. As Annette learns about how well some of them are doing, it warms her heart. Out of this experience came the story of Poksy.
Annette appreciates and loves the children. Thanks for the opportunity to share a small part of your lives with us. It was so rewarding, enriching and fulfilling. Thanks for the surprised phone calls now and again to check in or to share a joke.
Thanks for loving me back
