IT WANTS TO SIT ON YOUR CHEST.
The patients at Beechway High Secure Unit are terrified. Unexplained power cuts have lead to a series of horrifying incidents. And now fear has spread from the inmates to the staff.
DI Jack Caffery is called to investigate, whilst working the most impossible case of his life.

Mo's books are 100% authentic, drawing on her long research association with several UK police forces and on her personal encounters with criminals and prostitutes. She left school at 15 and worked as a barmaid, security guard, English teacher, and even a hostess in a Tokyo club. She had an MA in film from the American University in Washington DC and an MA in creative writing from Bath Spa University.
Mo Hayder was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2020 and passed away in July 2021.
She leaves behind a husband and a daughter, a powerful legacy of books, and an incredible number of people who loved and admired her.
