This book presents a collection of the best papers from the Seventh Asian Joint Workshop on Thermophysics and Fluid Science (AJWTF7 2018), which was held in Trivandrum, India, in November 2018. The papers highlight research outputs from India, China, Japan, Korea and Bangladesh, and many of them report on collaborative efforts by researchers from these countries. The topics covered include Aero-Acoustics, Aerodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, Bio-Fluidics, Combustion, Flow Measurement, Control and Instrumentation, Fluid Dynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Thermodynamics, Mixing and Chemically Reacting Flows, Multiphase Flows, Micro/Nano Flows, Noise/NOx/SOx Reduction, Propulsion, Transonic and Supersonic Flows, and Turbomachinery. The book is one of the first on the topic to gather contributions from some of the leading countries in Asia. Given its scope, it will benefit researchers and students working on research problems in the thermal and fluid sciences.
Prof. Deog Hee Doh received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Korea Maritime University in 1985 and 1988, respectively. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from University Tokyo in 1995. Currently, Prof. Doh is a Professor at Korea Maritime and Ocean University. His research interests include Fluid Engineering, Flow Measurements & Visualizations. A very dynamic
Prof. Minoru Yaga received his B.Eng. from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of the Ryukyus, Japan, in 1984. He was awarded the M.Eng. and Ph.D. by the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences, Kyushu University, Japan, in 1986 and 1989, respectively. He had been a Visiting Associate to California Institute of Technology, USA, during 1994-1995. His major research topics include development of high performance of submerged water jet, active control of oscillating shockwave in a diffuser, behavior of propagating shock wave in an elliptical cell and mixing enhancement of jet with main supersonic flow. Prof. Yaga has several international journal and conference publications to his credit. He has been actively involved in organizing many international and national conferences.
Dr. Guang Zhang received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from China Three Gorges University in 2012 and dual M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, China, and Andong National University, Republic of Korea, in 2015. He then received his Ph.D. degree in Gas Dynamics from Andong National University, Republic of Korea, in 2018. Currently, Dr. Zhang is an Assistant Professor atin Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, China. He had rich experience in experimentally and numerically studying compressible flows in gas dynamics and aerodynamics fields. His research interests include Microshock Tube, Shock Wave Dynamics, Flow Measurement, Micropressure Wave induced by High-Speed Trains, Particle Erosion and Cryogenic Cavitation. Dr. Zhang has attended and finished several research projects such as National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) grant funded by the Korean government (MEST), Advanced Research Center Program through the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and Research Grant from Korean Railroad Research Institute through the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement funded by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Korean government et al. during his doctoral studies. He is hosting two projects on particle erosion and cryogenic cavitation provided by Zhejiang Education Department and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), respectively. In the past 5 years, he has published 15 international journal papers, 13 international conference papers and 15 domestic conference papers.
