John Edgar James Puddy was born at the Sudbury General Hospital on April 8, 1950. He had a normal childhood in the town of Lively. He dabbled in the music business with some success. Jim got a job in geology at INCO and stayed there seven years. While at the job, Jim married Jan N. He built a house with the help of his brother-in-law Charles N.He left geology and transferred to a job at Process Technology where he was instrumental in developing the Superstack S02 monitoring system. He resigned from INCO in 1982 to head up Northern Micro Computer Company, a Victor dealership, which subsequently went bankrupt. The children included Arin, Ryan, and Chad. While working as a foreman in Dalron’s Commercial, he suffered a head injury and was comatose for three and a half months. This happened on August 15, 1989. Jim got separated from his wife in December 1992, but they continue to have a relationship of mutual trust. Jim is permanently in a wheelchair, but he is not done—as his first children’s book bears witness.
