The field of media and communication has expanded substantially in China over the last few decades. Han ZHENG, PhD, is Professor and Head of Journalism & Communication Program, Shanghai University and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Shanghai University. He is also a member of the Second Committee of the National Guidance Commission for Postgraduate Education in the Discipline of Journalism and Communication. Prof. Zheng is a Ministry of Education Correspondence Reviewer, a Think Tank Expert for the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio and Television, and an Evaluation Expert for the Shanghai Cultural Development Fund.
Xiaokun WU, PhD, is Professor at South China University of Technology. She has worked as the lead researcher in three research projects, both at national and provincial levels, and has published three books (including one translation) and over 30 academic papers. Her research has won several provincial-level awards in the social sciences. As a young scholar, she was invited to give a lecture at Jonkoping University in Sweden (August–September 2015). She was also a visiting scholar at Missouri Journalism School (2014–2015) and Hong Kong Baptist University (2009 and 2016). Her research fields are online contentious politics and public expression.
