Produktinformationen zu „THE TALES OF OSCAR AND CLEO (ePub)“
The story begins with a very unhappy cat called Oscar. His owner Mrs Wimmy has just told him that another cat, Cleo, would be coming to live with them. After a shaky start they become firm friends. This is the story of their adventures.Cleo has a frightening encounter with her reflection, and Oscar introduces her to two beautiful fairies, tiresome pixies and a grumpy old frog called Franko.Mrs Wimmy drives to Queensland to visit her grandchildren in Pimpama. During the long drive they spend a day at the Dubbo Zoo where Cleo has an encounter with an elephant. On their arrival in Pimpama, the family cat, Willow, proves to be a nasty piece of works but Oscar soon sorts her out. Cleo nearly drowns during a picnic and brave Oscar faces a huge ‘black slavering’ dog to enable her rescue. During this Queensland visit they encounter a Cane Toad and also capture a troublesome cockroach called Baldric. On their return to Victoria they drive to Winchelsea to visit Mrs Wimmy’s other granddaughter and her two cats Lenny and Polly. They meet a ‘retired’ swagman, Blossum a three-legged goat, Mousie a huge black watchdog and Old-Tom-Across-The Road. Oscar’s tail gets caught in a door resulting in a visit to the Vet, much bandaging and little sympathy. The cats cause a rumpus in the Hen House where they meet Randy, a very nasty rooster. Oscar has a painful encounter with a yabby.Back in Geelong, they incur the wrath of Mrs Wimmy for mistreating her beautiful piano. During a Soirée in Mrs Wimmy’s music room they become trapped in a Double Bass case. One day Cleo meets Wanda the Wicked Fairy who creates havoc with her magic wand. Finally Cleo and Oscar and all the creatures in the area attend the Annual Bush Ball. There are dramas and surprises, as well as a magnificent supper for all.

JOHN HUGHSON'S working life was as a Pharmacist. His formal art studies began at a mature age at the Geelong Fine Art School under Patricia Semmler and continued for about 7 years. Towards the end of this period, for an additional 4 years he studied watercolour technique with Peter Eggleton, who was a fine draughtsman and teacher. John enjoys the immediacy and challenge of watercolour painting en plein air. Although he has held two solo exhibitions and contributed to many others, this is the first time John has produced illustrations for a book.
