Produktinformationen zu „Treading in a Sea of Bricks (ePub)“
As insinuated by the metaphoric title Treading; to stay afloat, usually in water too deep to stand in and, in a Sea of Bricks; identification of the storys location through the towns nickname, Brick Citythis is ultimately a tale of triumph but mainly of struggle. Keeping your head above water.
Its an illustrative depiction of the harsh choices and realities offered to the inner-city youth in the early 80s through late 90s, many of which still exist amongst others today. The story centers around two young men, Ezra and Choke, growing up in Newark, New Jersey, who are seemingly fated to face many of their lifes trials together. The road to adulthood can be blissful and/or blistering, so as the pair weather the storm, they learn theres no better aide than wisdom and true friendship.

Autoren-Porträt von Erick Moody
Treading in a Sea of Bricks is author Erick Moody’s first attempt at writing a purely fictional story, and with the aid of very few factual anchors, he has spun a tale illustrating a familiar view of life for inner-city youths in the 80s and 90s that many of the era can relate to. “As a teenager, I had the opportunity to live outside of my hometown of Newark, New Jersey, in a nearby suburb with a relative for a few years, and the experience opened my eyes to several other things life had to offer. Spawned from misfortune (the untimely exodus from a local art-oriented high school), my stint outside of Newark demolished many of the mental walls I had built during my tenure and showed me the world wasn’t bordered by my city. This experience proved itself to be invaluable. However, I often wonder if I would even resemble the man I am today had I not been forced out of the Newark school system and rerooted elsewhere. This story explores that inquiry.”
