But majority of the vegetable growers are unaware about the improved varieties/hybrids. This book Vegetable Varieties of India provides the descript ion of all the varieties/hybrids, which have been notified from Central Variety Release Committee (CVRC) or identified from All India Coordinated Research Project on Vegetable Crops (AICRP-VC) for cultivation in different agro-ecological regions of India. For better understanding of a crop, in addition to the vernacular and botanical names, a brief introduction has also been given, which will provide necessary background to the readers. In addition, a list of all the varieties/hybrids notified from CVRC or identified from AICRP-VC and breeders' seed production data of last 5 years has also been provided.
