Arthur Ainslie (1871-1940) born Wellesley Pain was an illusionist, stage performer, and author. A regular contributor to Magician Monthly a popular periodical that ran from 1904 until 1913, Ainslie is also suspected of being the author of many books on magic and stage conjure as a ghost writer. Varla Ventura, author of Sheroes, Beyond Bizarre, and The Book of the Bizarre, and is a lover of all things odd and unusual and truly freaky. Her favorite holiday is Halloween, which she celebrates almost every day. She lives in the attic of an old Victorian in San Francisco.
