In Southern Song dynasty over 800 years from now, Zhou Bida, a great chancellor, writer and scholar, was born. Zhou Bida was born in the first year of Jingkang under the reign of Emperor Qingzong (1126 AD) and died in the fourth year of Jiatai under the reign of Emperor Ningzong (1204 AD) at the age of 79. He was known for charisma when alive, and was remembered for his academic achievements for centuries. Even today he remained an awe-inspiring figure. It was with awe that the author ventured to write this book. It may be too rough-hewn, too inferior to deserve serious attention. But the author exerts himself to reconstruct Zhou Bida as much as possible in terms of family background, growing up experience, political legacy, literary creation, academic achievement and contributions to science and technology from fragmentary and contradictory information, by consulting all materials available and writing in a down-to-earth manner. He succeeds in portraying the trajectory of Zhou Bida's life and the rounded personality of Zhou Bida 800 years ago.
