Amalia Aguilar (born July 3, 1924) is a Cuban and Mexican film actress and dancer of the Golden age of Mexican cinema in the 1940s and 1950s. She was considered one of the icons of the Rumberas film. She was born Amalia Rodriguez Carriera in Matanzas, Cuba. She started her career together with her sister Cecilia as "The Aguilar Sisters". The team travelled to many Latin American countries with a show of Cuban dances. The singer and producer Julio Richards discovered them in Panama and invited them to work in Mexico.
