Autoren-Porträt von Andrew Kuntzman, Gerard J. Tortora
Gerard J. Tortora ist Professor für Biologie am Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey, wo er Anatomie, Physiologie und Mikrobiologie unterrichtet. Er ist Mitglied zahlreicher Fachgesellschaften, und setzt sich besonders für eine verbesserte Ausbildung seiner Studenten ein. Dies brachte ihm bereits den Excellence Award des National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development ein. Neben seinen Lehraufgaben, verbringt er noch einmal soviel Zeit mit dem Schreiben erfolgreicher Lehrbücher - und findet Gelegenheit vier- bis fünfmal in der Woche beim Joggen und Radfahren die Zusammenhänge zwischen Anatomie und Physiologie noch besser zu verstehen.
