Klappentext zu „Architecture as City “
Within the scope of an international competition, Florian Beigel was invited by the Republic of South Korea, along with seven other teams, to develop urban construction plans for a land reclamation project. The relative idea, existing since the 1970ies, aims at helping to ensure the supply of the growing population. In the course of time, the land-use plan has changed whereas the need for space remains unchanged. In late 2009, Florian Beigel s project (along with two others) was declared the winning project. Kazuyo Sejima, director of the 12th Architecture Biennale, will present his project as a part of the main exhibition in Venice 2010.
Saemangeum Island City comprises a surface of some 400 km², nearly a third of the area of London (around 1.570 km²)!
This book offers a neutral basic study of urban planning typology and the derivation of an urban land-use concept plan based thereon including highly remarkable solution approaches as regards environmental issues.
