.The main theme of Axel Teichmann s work is technology and the technologisation of life in a mysterious form, that is also open for interpretation. Technical artifacts represent themselves in his oeuvre in a seemingly antiquated way: Straining or even overwhelmed acting persons are shown clamped between technical artifacts between artifacts that once stood for innovation in the last century but now represent a distant past. At first glance his choice of artistic expression seems to be oldfashioned, at least compared to contemporary digital art. But it is precisely this distance that is created by one of the strengths of Teichmann s works: It creates space for reflection. Thus, for example, the sculptural depictions of people, that seem to dissolve in low-pixel graphic display, allude to criticism of our digitized world.
As it is generally known only an interpretive discussion brings art to life. The coordinates for that are given by Teichmann s works in an excellent way.
