The authors are all herpetologists with a particular interest in the reptiles of East Africa. Together, they wrote A Field Guide to the Reptiles of East Africa (A&C Black) and individually have written many key papers on the reptiles and amphibians of the region.Kim Howell was professor of Zoology at the University of Dar es Salaam for over 40 years, and has lived in and studied the fauna of Tanzania since 1970.All authors are herpetologists. SS is author of 3 African reptile guides, KH is a zoology professor in Tanzania, RD is a biology professor in San Francisco, and JA runs the BIO-KEN snake farm in Kenya.
