Agatha Christiewurde 1890 in Torquay, einer Küstenstadt im SüdwestenEnglands, als Tochter einer wohlhabenden Familie geboren. Im Laufe ihres Lebens schrieb die »Queen of Crime«73 Kriminalromane, die in über 100 Sprachen übersetzt wurden. Agatha Christiegilt als die erfolgreichste Schriftstellerin aller Zeiten. 1965 wurde sie fürihr Werk mit dem »Order of the British Empire«ausgezeichnet. Sie starb 1976 im Alter von 85 Jahren.
