Does thought consist of mental representations in the form of conditionals of the predicate calculus, that is, rules of the 'if...then...' type or do we form mental models of the outside world which bear an analogical relation to the real world like those of a photograph to the item photographed? The basic aim of the present study is to contribute to the ongoing work on mental representations by extending the research to an unexplored area both in the Greek and the international scene, that of mental partitioning. Our attempt was to find a solution to the problem generated by the Kosslyn - Pylyshyn controversy as to whether the language of thought which is considered as basis to any mental activity is of analogue nature (it makes use of mental imagery) or whether it is exclusively of digital nature like language.
