The sawmill industry which at inception employed the crude method of pit-sawing for its operations, has evolved into a big industry that employs various type of relative modern power-driver machinery for its operations. The problem of low conversion efficiency in sawmills is enormous hence constitutes a serious threat to survival of wood-based industry. Consequently, the need to evaluate factors affecting Lumber Recovery from high forest tree species in sawmills is paramount as the conventional circular and band saws are used for both breakdown and resawing of both small and large diameter logs in some tropical countries. New equipment such as the woodmizer and the karrat circular saw machine have recently been introduced for trial though, the method which has proven to yield tremendous improvement in lumber recovery. Development of most efficient processing techniques for the characteristic irregular-shape log and small diameter log which formed the majority of the logs obtain in the natural forests seems imperative for the survival of the wood processing industries. This book revealed the kind of wood species processed, the type of headrig machine used to process it and the kind.
