Databases in mobile telecommunications have becomemore and more important due to growing data volumes. More efficient database solutions are needed tosupport temporal and logical consistency. This bookpresents a possible database architecture for thegrowing data dilemma. It presents a databasearchitecture for IN and GSM data, and a performanceanalysis toolbox for transaction-based software.Using the presented architecture as a test case, adetailed queue model analysis is presented. Theresult of the analysis is twofold. The mostimportant result is that even a complextransaction-based system may be analyzed accuratelyenough to get relevant and reasonable results withthe toolbox. Second, it appears that paralleldatabase architectures have a lot to offer inhigh-volume data environments.
