The Author: Gaile Sloan Cannella is an associate professor of early childhood and multicultural education at Texas A&M University. She received her Ed.D. in early childhood education from the University of Georgia. In addition to numerous research articles in professional journals concerned with the education of young children, she has written on social justice and teacher education.

«'Deconstructing Early Childhood Education: Social Justice and Revolution' represents an important moment in the larger revolution of childhood studies. Along with a cadre of other pioneers, Cannella refuses to accept traditional notions of child development, the sacrosanct research methods used to study childhood, the portrayal of childhood as a fixed, unchanging entity, or the 'validated' educational strategies used to teach young children.
