As one of the most pressing ecological ecologic issue in Khartoum state is domestic waste material management with the weak system of improper treatment for daily produced solid wastes from households in the state. The main outcomes of this study are the revelation of the nature of domestic waste materials and containers used at house hold level which is the most important stage in waste management and systemization of the proper handling of domestic waste products. This study was conducted with the aim of studying the nature of current domestic solid waste produced and the sorting practice of waste materials in a manner to be utilized as the first step of recycling; the dominant types of sorted waste materials that are utilized by the study group and the dominant aspect in which the sorted out waste materials utilized as well as the formal recycling through case study revealed that the formal interest in management of waste materials at governmental state level has been initiated through establishing partnerships with the private sector for processing and recycling waste materials.
