Physical fitness is minimal in the seriously ill and maximal in the highly conditioned person. The energy demands of daily tasks vary from individual to individual. Some position between these poles is the meaning of Physical fitness for a fisherman, farmer, hunter, teacher, doctor, an athlete and a house wife has a different meaning as far as their respective working requirements are concerned. Freedom from disease, efficient movement, alertness of mind, emotional maturity and social adjustment provides the framework of total fitness. It has been said that fitness not only adds years to one's life but life to one's years.
