Devised an ethanol production process through fermentation of sugarcane molasses by which no alcohol is produced during yeast growth. By growing yeast under controlled condition, CO2 loss during uncontrolled yeast propagation can be nullified. 25-30% of CO2 produced can be efficiently recovered in fermentation process carried out by controlled yeast propagation. The distilled yeast growth sample were characterized by Agulhon's solution, near infrared spectroscopy (NIR) and gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC-FID).
