HIV infection predisposes to the development of specific types of cancer defined as AIDS-indicator cancers. In the current study, we reviewed the epidemiological, socio-demographic and clinical aspects of the most common HIV-related malignancies seen at the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital. This was a cross-sectional study conducted at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital - Francistown, Botswana. Of all study subjects (543), 347 (63.9%) were HIV positive and 196 (36.1%) were HIV negative. Findings of this studie showed that the most HIV related malignancies are Kaposi sarcoma, cervical cancer and non-Hodgkin lymphoma meanwhile; Cervical cancer was statistical related to HIV among individuals aged under 65 years. Furthermore, this study showed that skin cancer and ovarian cancer could be related to HIV infection. Other malignancies appeared not to have been influenced by HIV/AIDS. Because of unrepresentative ness of the sample, Larger and preferably multicenter studies are needed to ascertainthe relationship between HIV infection and some others malignancies in Botswana.
