Aylin Korkmaz, geb. 1972 in Adana, Türkei, wurde mit 17 Jahren von ihrer Familie in eine frühe Ehe mit einem Kurden gedrängt. Nach der Hochzeit kam sie zusammen mit dem Ehemann nach Deutschland und bekam drei Kinder. 2003 ließ sie sich von ihrem Mann scheiden. 2007 ging ihr Exmann mit einem Messer auf sie los und entstellte ihr Gesicht und ihren Oberkörper. Sie überlebte den Mordanschlag nur knapp und ging im Anschluss mit ihrem Schicksal offensiv an die Öffentlichkeit. Ihr Exmann ist im August 2008 wegen versuchten Mordes in Tateinheit mit schwerer Körperverletzung zu einer Haftstrafe von 13 Jahren verurteilt worden.
