The theoretical foundations and paradigm of the development of gender studies of Internet communication are described as well as the gender characteristics of verbal English-speaking behavior in such a communicative environment as Internet forums are analyzed. In the era of global communication, electronic communication accumulates a wide variety of genres, speech practices, methods and formats. Linguists talk about the existence of a virtual linguistic personality. Consequently, the study of all aspects of the virtual personality (including the gender parameters) may be of some research interest.
