Genomics of Tree Crops

Tree genomics shall cover a wide area of concepts and methods ranging from international genome sequencing projects to invaluable bioinformatics tools, analytical methods of gene expression, including final metabolic products, and their specific tissue to cellular compartmentalization. Various chapters will deal with palms, soft wood crops, beverages, industrial crops, plantains, fruits and nuts. In addition, there will be general chapters on gene flow and local adaptation in trees, environmental genomics, genomics and climate change and biofortification. This new knowledge enables readers to understand the integration of basic physiological functions and developmental programs. Also, the establishment of tight relationships between genomics genetics - plant breeding reveals synergies for exploiting molecular markers, thus studying quantitative traits.
