GIS Modelling for Strategic Planning of the Urban Environment

At the beginning of the book it is highlighted the importance of the strategic planning of the urban environment to provide greater harmony of the people with the society, with the environment and with themselves. It is shown the Planning Support System (PSS) by the critical analysis. It is explained the need of use of advanced information technology, scientific methods and concepts in building good systems for PSS. In the context of information technology, it is explained the geographical information system (GIS) as a leader in spatial analysis and necessary technology in strategic planning. In the fourth part of the book it is shown a new original concept of modeling for the strategic planning of urban areas in building business models. This new concept allows raising of the business models to a higher level with built in self-explanation of the model for a full understanding of the process involved in the model, whereby it is enabled its easier application use and development.It is shown the practical application of the concept of modeling in many business models related to efficient planning and management of taxes, encouraging investment, planning for energy recovery etc.
