Moreover the impact of the proverbs on the current generation's attitude has been explored in this study. Even though the society's attitude is changing towards women because of education and the change in terms of women's right legally, but a lot must be done to empower women economically to challenge the age old tradition which still undermines the role of women among the Wolaita people of Ethiopia.

Mamo, Dereje HaileDr.Dereje Haile M.Guya is an Assistant Professor of English Language and Literature at Wolaita Sodo University in Ethiopia. He has done his B.ED Degree at Haremaya University(formerly known as Alemaya University) in English Language and Literature. He also has done his MA and PhD Degree in English Literature from Adiss Ababa University in Ethiopia.
