Mandana Sadat wurde als Tochter einer belgischen Mutter und eines iranischen Vaters in Brüssel geboren. Sie studierte Kunst in Strasbourg und lebt heute als freie Illustratorin in Paris. Ihre Bilderbücher, die in vielen Sprachen erschienen sind, erhielten internationale Auszeichnungen, u.a. den Prix Chrétien de Troyes für "De l'autre côté de l'arbre", den Prix International 2008 Espace Enfants für "L'altro paolo". "Mon lion" wurde mit dem Prix France Télévision ausgezeichnet.
