Berlin as well as in the French and Portuguese countryside, these photographs by Paulo Nozolino bear his usual dark symbolic syntax. Still using 35mm fi lm and occasionally a flash, this tight sequence of vertical pictures shows us, once again, his everlasting concern for the state of the world and his quest for the pure, true, non-manipulated analogic image.

Paulo Nozolino wurde 1955 in Lissabon geboren. Zwischen 1975 und 1978 lebte er in London, wo er das London College of Printing besuchte und seine Reiselust entdeckte. 1988 erhielt er den Kodak-Preis Portugal. 1989 den Prix Fondation Leica France. 1994 ein Stipendium der Villa Medicis Hors-les-Murs, Paris und 1995 den Grand Prix de la Ville de Vevey, Schweiz. Paulo Nozolino publiziert und stellt seine Arbeiten seit 1980 international aus. Seine Bilder sind in vielen Museen und privaten Sammlungen vertreten. Nozolino lebt und arbeitet in Paris.
