The Unified Power Flow Controller is devised for the real time control and dynamic compensation of transmission systems, providing multi functional flexibility required solving many of the problems facing the power delivery industry. Within the framework of traditional power transmission concepts, the UPFC is able to control, simultaneously or selectively all the parameters affecting power flow in the transmission line and this unique capability is signified by the adjective "unified" in its name. UPFC can independently control both active and reactive power in the line.

Vijay kumar, BairuDr.B. Vijay Kumar was born in Warangal, India, in April 1978. He received the B.Tech in EEE, M. Tech in Power Systems and Ph.D in Electrical Engg from NIT, Warangal, India, in 2002, 2008 and 2015 respectively. He is currently working as Asst professor in KITS warangal. He has published many papers in peer reviewed journals and authored 2 books.
