It is beyond controversy that intercultural competence, especially within the area of tourism, is a requirement for professionals in the field. In order to develop this competence and to enhance internationalisation at home, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland conducted three summer schools on tourism from 2010 to 2012 on the basis of CEEPUS grants. The summer schools brought together Austrian and international specialists working on a tourism topic in multicultural groups for the duration of ten days. The topic of the summer schools concentrated on regional development in tourism highlighting F&B products. The book examines the Summer School 2012 with the title "Power of Origin - Instruments of Sales Promotion with a Focus on Regional F&B-Products in Tourism" and provides lecturers' articles as well as the best workshop results of selected students.

Prof. (FH) Mag. Dr. Petra Hauptfeld; professor for German as a foreign language, Intercultural Communication, Academic Writing and Head of International Affairs at the UAS Burgenland, working in this field since 2004; studied German philology and communication sciences; further education on the topics NLP, rhetorics, didactics and project management; teaching experience in Hungary, Belgium, the Czech Republic and the Ukraine; designing and conducting of international events since 1993; personal teaching ethos: "Inside, everybody has all the necessary resources to learn and change; a good teacher is a facilitator and companion on the way."
