Klappentext zu „Property of Blood “
Olivia, an American-born model, married Count Ugo Brunamonti, a feckless, soon impoverished aristocrat. After his death, she supported her children by starting a fashion house which has prospered. When she is kidnapped, the crime is reported to Marshal Guarnaccia by her daughter, who may have been the intended victim.Kidnapping is almost a second business for the Sardinians nominally engaged in raising sheep in the Tuscan hills. They inhabit a vast wilderness where a victim can be hidden away forever, and where those searching for her will be quickly spotted. The government's official policy is not to permit the payment of ransom. But if the money isn't paid, the kidnappers cannot let their victim go free. It would set a bad example.
In this case, Guarnaccia suspects another problem. Can it be that Olivia's children are unwilling to pay the ransom? Is this more than a random crime?
Autoren-Porträt von Magdalen Nabb
Magdalen Nabb never returned from holidays in Florence in 1975. She liked it there, and that was why she stayed. She worked as a teacher and potter. In Manchester she had studied at the college of art and then started to write. She began with a play that was performed in London, as well as eight children's books, some of which were filmed. Then, in 1981, she wrote her first detective novel, Death of an Englishman (German translation: Tod eines Engländers), which earned a "Bravissimo!" from no less than Georges Simenon. Now that her detective novels are also being published in Italy she can only hope that nobody is murdered in Florence when she has important things to do - nowadays journalists flock to her after every murder to find out the solution to the crime.
