The study is performed at a company which manufactures sucker rods for a wide consumption and usage. The company established the layout for manufacturing of sucker rod. The improved layout is developed with an objective of removing the shortcomings of the material handling function of the existing layout. It is with this aim of studying the material handling tasks being undertaken at the layouts that the present study has been conducted. The objective is to compare the handling activities at the two layouts and make a comparative analysis of the two. This would help a new practitioner to get new insights for improving layouts.
