Mary Dixon-Woods is Senior Lecturer in Social Science and Health in the Department of Health Sciences, University of Leicester. Her interests are in the application of social science methods and theory to the study of potentially vulnerable groups in healthcare, including children. Bridget Young is Senior Lecturer and Director of Communication Skills in the Department of Clinical Psychology, University of Liverpool. Her research interests are in how identity, roles and relationships affect peoples experiences of health and illness, particularly childrens and parents experiences of illness and disability in childhood. David Heney is Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Oncology and Medical Education, University of Leicester, and Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Oncology, Childrens Hospital, Leicester Royal Infirmary. He has research interests in ethical issues in caring for children, communication with children, and family roles and functioning in childhood cancer.
