Therefore the real crisis lies in our consciousness and education must take up the challenge of transforming human consciousness by creating a new mind which can discern what is true from what is false. Such learning is different from book-learning and leads to self-knowledge which is the key to wisdom. J.Krishnamurti pointed out the way this can be done and the schools started by him are trying to carry out that vision. We discuss the difficulties faced in doing so.

Krishna, PadmanabhanProf.Krishna did his P.h.D. from the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India and served there as a Professor of Physics till 1986, when he joined the Rajghat Education Centre of the Krishnamurti Foundation India as its Rector. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy and has lectured widely on Education, Science and Spirituality.
