This book is now in its first edition. We wrote this book not because there was no books in the same subject, but because we thought it is a good idea to write a book in ring closure reactions. This is a subject of interest for both under-and high graduate student. We write to explain this book to students in a simple way as it had been explained to us years ago. The primary organization of this book is beginning with terminology and rules of ring closure reactions in edition to attack trajectories, and favored and disfavored ring closure which will lead to cyclization, cyclocondensation reactions. This book includes a brief discussion for Diels-Alder in terms of its regioselectivity and stereoselectivity. We place emphasis on explaining some oxygen, nitrogen, quinolone heterocyclic compounds as well as maleimide derivatives. It, also, involves some important Diels-Alder reactions of 7-substituted cycloheptatriene which represent a much more useful realistic introduction to tricyclic compounds. Finally, this book involves the synthesis of an hydroecgonine analogue to reflex the increasing importance of such compounds which show central stimulating effect.
