Yield variation due to climatic uncertainty lead to food insecurity and fluctuation of its price. Like all crops, weather plays most important role in rice production systems. As the input requirements to run the crop growth simulation model are plenty and not easily available in many regions, the location specific statistical models plays vital role to provide first- hand information on yield forecast.Even though there already exist large scale studies about crop modeling, little attention has been paid to study the impact of climatic variability on crop yields at a regional scale in West Bengal. Under this background the book has written to study the effect of weather parameters on rice yield in several ways at district level. Kharif rice, the principal food grain of Nadia district is selected as study materials.To study a versatile crop-weather relationship and to establish the effect of climatic variables on crop yield we deal with different problems. Variety of models was developed for this purpose and those models were utilized to forecast yield. Depending on the requirement of those models given requirement was also changed according to need basis.

Biswas, RiaDr. Ria Biswas has been teaching Agricultural Statistics at under graduate and post graduate classes at BCKV, KU, CU & Seacom Skills University as guest teacher. She has a bright academic career with 1st class in all spheres of academic life. She was awarded INSPIRE Fellowship for Doctoral Research under the Ministry of Science and Technology, DST.
