Study of solar power potential, generation and transmission in Uganda is aimed at boosting power generation for rapid economic development of the country. Thus, the study is poised to fish out places with high relative sunshine hour (rsh) and clearness index (ci). The study presents a technique for mathematical modelling of rsh and ci. These parameters are valuable for location of solar power plant and for estimation of solar power potential, respectively. The study initiates a trade-off between the rsh and wind availability in quantifying the actual power in any location. Moreover, the present study proposes nine solar power generation-transmission models and engenders the application of dynamic programming in selecting the best of the transmission models, which will either support generation or generation-transmission of power. Furthermore, the best two fascinating models will be subjected to economic analysis to ascertain their profitability. The final decision on future location of mega solar power plant will be governed by a trade-off between the optimal technical information on generation or generation-transmission model and its profitability.
