This work was basically prepared to fulfill the requirements needed for MSc in Development Studies at London South Bank University, Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences. It underscores and examines the harshly live of southern Sudanese IDPs who were trapped at the indecent living camps located at the peripheries of the Sudanese capital Khartoum during the eighties and the nineties of the last century. To shed lights on these harshly living conditions which southern Sudanese IDPs were going through, the Author thought it wise that it was time to authenticate these conditions and keep it for next generations to learn from. In conclusion, the study dwelled on issues of peace and existing peace initiatives and examined issues of IDPs journey home where it highlights the possibility of IDPs not opting for an immediate return upon conclusion of a peace deal and that some may opt to wait and until such time when favorable living conditions in the south are brought to the level they are atthe areas of refuge in the north.
