This is a comparative case study of Kashmir and Colombia's conflicts. Thisresearch can be used to understand why specific peace agreements failedor succeeded in yielding different outcomes. I am interested in discoveringwhat needs to occur for successful negotiations to happen in internationalarmed conflicts. The outcome of this research is to aid those in armedconflict to resolve conflict through a better procedural, creative, andproductive lens. Applying these techniques can improve negotiation in international peace agreements. My methodology consists of using Most Similar Systems Design to compare these two conflicts. I am interested in noticing the effect the Independent Variables have on the dependent variable. The independent variables are (a)spoilers (b) conflict ripeness: latent attractors, warfare/violence, emotional grievances, and unjust causes (c)stakeholder's participation v. representation (d)power dynamics: territory, social, economic, and international presence (e)negotiation discourse (f) information asymmetry and (g) buy-in. The dependent variable is the sustainable peace agreements.
