Längst bedienen wir uns einer Vielfalt von (Kultur-)Techniken, um unsere Vorstellungen von einem erfüllten Leben zu verwirklichen. Diese Vielfalt kommt auch im Schaffen des Historikers und langjährigen Vorstandes im ICOHTEC (Internationales Komitee für Technikgeschichte), Hans-Joachim Braun, zum Ausdruck, dem dieser Band gewidmet ist. Den internationalen Autoren geht es darum, das Verhältnis zwischen Technik und Kunst, sowohl im Sinne der "Artes Mechanicae", d.h. der frühneuzeitlichen Handwerkskunst, wie im Sinne der sog.
