The Leader in Human Resource Development for the Past Four Decades
There is no doubt . . . we live in changing times. The increased amount and rapid flow of information has placed organizations on ever accelerating paths of change. With a focus on the topic of change, The 2008 Training Annual can help you provide training and performance improvement as your organization work through its change efforts.
The Annual is divided into four sections: Experiential Learning Activities (ELAs); Editor's Choice; Inventories, Questionnaires, and Surveys; and Articles and Discussion Resources. The 2008 Training Annual includes a wonderful array of tools to help you with change. The centerpiece is Vince Miller's article providing a history of the training profession. Miller is a walking archive of training history and was the 1974 ASTD national president. It is a pleasure to travel with him on this historical journey of how the training industry has changed.
ELAs are the mainstay of the Annual. The activities are presented as complete and ready-to-use training designs. We are honored to have ELAs from three dignitaries: Jean Barbazette, Len Goodstein, and Thiagi. These three activities alone are worth the cost of the Annual.
The instrument section introduces reliable survey and assessment tools for gathering and sharing data on aspects of personal awareness, performance, or team development, like Homer Johnson's.
The articles section presents the best current thinking about training. Use these for your own professional development or as a lecture resources within your trainings. Must-haves in this section include articles by Peter Garber about turbulent change of the future and Mel Silberman about changing attitudes. All materials can be freely reproduced for training purposes.
The depth and breadth of available resources-new content is added to the Annual each year-ensures a steady stream of contemporary knowledge and tools. Use the Annual to keep on top of developments within the training and HR profession, dip into the content for an activity or instrument that targets a specific performance problem, combine activities to create an entire development program, or learn how others in the profession are tackling the ever-increasing challenges of building and developing a capable and productive workforce.
