The demands of this millennium require an in-depth understanding of how communication and culture differ from one language/culture to another given the endless opportunities of interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds. As a continuum of previous trends in ELT, Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC) stresses the importance of equiping the twenty-first century learner with the necessary attitudes,, knowledge and skills to play effective roles in today's globalized world. As a result, this research investigated Moroccan EFL university students' ICC and how this envisaged outcome was developed among students as they move from lower to higher levels. Furthermore, the findings of this researh paved the ground to reflect upon various implications and applications in the EFL classroom.

El Hiani, KarimKarim EL Hiani is a holder of a doctorate degree in Applied Linguistics from the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences in Rabat in 2018. He has participated in many national and international academic conferences, seminars and workshops. His research interests include: Language Teaching and learning, Intercultural Communication, Pragmatics and ESP.
