Albert O. Hirschman, geb. 1915 in Berlin, verließ Deutschland 1933 und emigrierte 1941 in die USA. Seit 1974 ist er Professor für Sozialwissenschaften am 'Institute for Advanced Study' in Princeton.Amartya Sen, geb. in Santiniketan, Indien, ist Professor in Harvard und war Master des Trinity College in Cambridge. 1998 erhielt er den Nobelpreis für Ökonomie und im November 2007 den Meister-Eckhart-Preis.
