Daria Santini studied at the Ludwig-Maximilian Universität in Munich and at the Freie Universität, Berlin. In 1992 she moved to London, where she still lives. In 1995 she received a PhD in German Literature from the University of Pisa with the greatest distinction. She was Lecturer in German Language and Literature at St. Hilda's College, Oxford, 1995-2006. In 1997-98 she taught German at King's College London and from 2005 until 2010 she was Lecturer in German at Magdalen College, Oxford. In 2000 she was awarded a two-year Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship to work on her second book, In 2013, she won an External Research Scholarship from the University of Trieste to collaborate on a book about the modern reception of Latin literature, for which she has written a chapter on Goethe and Apuleius and another on the presence of Virgil in the poetry of Wallace Stevens. Since leaving academia, she has worked as an independent scholar and writer, publishing on various topics. Her specialist fields are 18th, 19th and 20th century literary studies as well as cultural history & biography.
