Julia Donaldson, geb. 1948 in London, arbeitete als Lektorin, Journalistin und Lehrerin. Heute lebt sie als freie Schriftstellerin mit ihrer Familie in Glasgow. 2011 wurde Julia Donaldson mit dem 'Children's Laureate 2011 - 2013' ausgezeichnet.Joel Stewart verbrachte seine frühe Kindheit in einer Kommune auf dem Land und wuchs später in Sheffield auf. Er absolvierte das »Falmouth College of Arts« mit Auszeichnung und arbeitete bereits vor seinem Abschluss an seinem ersten Bilderbuch. In Deutschland fanden besonders seine Illustrationen zu Andersens Märchen große Beachtung.
