The Translator: Lucy M. Schwartz is Professor and Chair of the Modern and Classical Languages Department at Buffalo State, State University of New York. She received her Ph.D. in romance languages from Harvard University. In addition to numerous articles in professional journals and book chapters, she is the editor of a critical edition of Le Secrétaire intime published in France.
