Hester Prynne is young, beautiful, passionate, and alone. Her husband has been abroad for years, maybe lost at sea. Many men take the opportunity to try to comfort and charm her. . . . There is only one Hester cant resist. When Hesters sin is discovered, the townspeople of Boston force her to wear the scarlet letter as a stamp of shame: A for Adultery. But Hester suffers her punishment in brave silence, refusing to give up the name of the man she loves. She protects him and their forbidden loveto the very end.
